John was my first supervisor as an young airman at Osan in 2003. Was a really great guy and always had answers for all my questions. Was really intelligent and compassionate. I've thought of him from time time over the years and honestly it is still heartbreaking now as it was in 07. I never got to say thanks but one day I will.

Still in our thoughts and prayers John, keep that place safe up there for everyone.

I miss you my friend. Two tours together you kept me out of trouble more then a few times state side and over seas . Should have been there with you in the third tour. Think about you all the time.

Suleimani was killed by a U.S. strike at the Baghdad Airport Thursday January 3, following a series of Iranian-backed attacks on U.S. facilities, including the American embassy in Baghdad. For decades, Suleimani led Iran's Quds Force, an elite branch of the Revolutionary Guard that for years supplied Iraq-based insurgents with bombmaking materials, expertise and tactical training.

We do not know one promise these men made, one pledge they gave, one word they spoke; but we do know they summed up and perfected, by one supreme act, the highest virtues of men and citizens. For love of country they accepted death, and thus resolved all doubts, and made. (James A Garfield, 20th POTUS)

John buddy we served together and got to know one another. It's been many years but when I see your face on the wall it still bothers me. Wished I coulda been with ya man. You were a really good guy, we lost a few over there. I was one of the lucky ones who got out unscathed for the most part. Rest In Peace brother, I'll be in route to relieve you from the gate post when God calls me up lol. Peace be with you and your family man.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them."

Thanks for all the posts. I am thankful that John had so many friends that still think of him. Jill Self-mom
