He was the kind of person who, when you are thinking through an issue, you might wonder: What would John Thompson think? I am stunned by the news. My relationship with John was always a good one as I found him to be one of the nicest individuals I have had the pleasure to know. I am grateful for the opportunity to reminisce with John about our long ago times at Hawken during our class reunion. My condolences to the Thompson family.

John was a rare individual. The world and all those who knew him have suffered a loss. RIP John.

John left an indelible mark on our class as a founder of the Progressive Union of Students (PUS.) Although this was intended as a satire on politics, it showed that he truly had a political nature, and a deep concern for others, underneath the veneer of cynicism.

..I am stunned and saddened. John had the best record collection in our class. He was a free spirit; marched to his own drummer.
