I'm so sorry to hear about Al. Some off my favorite memories of Al were climbing around CP&L cooling and ash pond dams doing inspections. He was a good man.

Please accept our condolences on Al's passing. He was a wonderful man and musician. Health issues will prevent us from attending his memorial service, but we will be there in spirit.

I never knew his real name was John, always Alan to me. He was such a talented and interesting person with a wonderful wit. I was fortunate to meet him through his wife Patty, and enjoyed his help cleaning the gazebo for some of our lunches, for listening to him play such lovely tunes with his concert band, and for tidbits of interesting information. He lived a life well served to all and will be missed!

It was an honor to know and work with Al. He was an amazing yet very humble engineer. He never forgot anything. I learned so much from him and will always treasure the friendship we had.

This is Darrell Pickett. I worked with the family. Thank God I knew him as a Tech master and a science lover. I loved him and he taught me like a brother. I will miss him.

As one of my key mentors and a friend, I will remember and appreciate Al for the rest of my life. I can only hope to pass on a portion of what he gave me, to the younger engineering generation behind me.
