Dearst Tietjen Family,

I just learned of Pastor Tietjen's passing. What a Brillant man of love, peace, joy and kindness. Our family shares in your sorrows. Yet rejoice that he resides in the presence of our heavenly father. Pastor John was a wonderful man and my husband and I feel blessed that he married us. He is forever in our memories and hearts. God Bless. Nichole Schnieders

+SOLI DEO GLORIA+
Giving thanks, John, that you have now received the crown of life... and also the one approval that you taught us to seek above all others through your pastoral heart, your valiant leadership, and your evangelical witness: "Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Master."

Dear Ernestine and family, John had a profound, liberating effect on my life (Robert). What a privilege to work with him! For both of us, John was the very embodiment of faithful and courageous leadership. Robert Smith & Donna Duensing

To the Tietjen Family:
As a 1975 graduate of Seminex, there is permanently etched in my soul, heart, mind and ministry the witness of John Tietjen. God be praised for permitting us to have been touched by his faith, courage, and love. He lived the Gospel indeed! What a gift!

All praise and thanks to God for the gift to the church that John was and for the faith by which and in which he lived his life and to which he testified. May all who mourn find peace, comfort, hope and joy in the sure and certain promise of life without end in our Lord Jesus Christ!

I am grateful to be been a student in a grad course on American Lutheran history John taught at the St Louis sem one summer in the early '60s. But above all I thank God for the gift of John's leadership in the history yet to be written, painful as it turned out to be.

To all who mourn-
How fitting that Sunday's Second Reading was about Easter. "Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits..." John has followed the First One to be with Him. Dr. Tietjen's faith was certain and clear, a gift from God to him and to all of us whose lives he touched.

Sarah and family:

Please accept my sincere sympathy in the passing of your father. I know what a painful time this is for you and your family. Will keep you in my prayers. May God Bless You!

For the family and the many friends of + John, treasure all the remembrances you and others have for this wonderful man. More importantly, rejoice in what God has to say about + John, namely: "Welcome home, my son."
