Not sure what to say?

Johnny Torbett was an infrequent and always very special presence in my life. His personality was so spirited, full of fun, curiosity, love for music, interest in other people and enthusiasm in general--he just seemed to radiate it. Most often, I would get to visit with Johnny at the wonderful parties given by Barbara and Ted Teel (both still so missed by many people), where, if we were lucky, he would break out his trumpet for a little serenade. I know that was a favorite annual tradition...

I went all through S.M.U. with Johnny and he was a wonderful friend. I was a Chi Omega (Kappa Sigma's Sister fraternity) and we had lots of fun together. I loved "The Cell Block Seven". Johnny was always "up" and fun to be with. I have his trumpet cassette in my car right now. He will be greatly missed.

Johnny was a good friend for a lot of years. We rode the roller coaster at the TX State Fair, attended the Hurricane Carla Benefit concert, sang arias in the middle of the street at midnite, lots more. I'll miss his intelligence and energy, and love.

Johnie brought a lot of joy to friends, musicians and fans.

I was very sad to hear of Johnny's death--he was a childhood friend, both in Waco and at the Hill School--his Cell Block Seven even played at my debut party! I know he is rejoicing in his new home.

My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead.
