John Townsend

John and I go back to nursery school at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. We were essentially friends for life. He was a brilliant guy who had a genuine heart for everyone around him. Many of us here in Little Rock have been sharing our shock and sadness over his passing, as well as some very good memories of great times we shared with JT in high school and during our years in Fayetteville. I am so sorry to see this in the paper this morning. I had no idea - and did not realize he was sick. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I unfortunately never got to meet John but my sister had nothing but nice things to say about him, his friendliness and unconditional acceptance of people most of all. Losing our dad last year was the hardest experience of my whole life so I'll definitely be keeping his girls in my prayers. Nothing can ever take his place. I hope they'll feel and see his presence in their lives as my sister and I have.
