Dr. Townsend married us 40 years ago on Sept. 4, 1976. He will always have a very special place in our hearts.

DR TOWNSEND WAS OUR MINISTER AT THE FEDERATED CHURCH IN CHAGRIN FALLS FOR 20 YEARS. WE HAVE MOVED TO A NUMBER OF CITIES AND HE WAS OUR FAVORITE MINSTER.
ALSO WAS VERY SPECIAL AS HE MARRIED OUR DAUGHTER (MRS DAVID RICHEY) AND OUR SON (MR KURT ROMMEL). HE USED TO

RIH John Townsend u will be dearly missed but never forgotten from the Sanders Family.

I was just thinking about him as I went through the CF pages. I remember going in and talking to him in my early early teens. He was in my eyes and heart a great man. I remember him sending a runaway to live with us for a while. Maybe that is what I was asking him about. We were blessed to have him in C.F. and our lives.

So many memories. Still my favorite church, favorite Pastor. During my busy crazy life those Sunday mornings re-energized me for the next week. I remember your wedding - your baby - and before then our trip to take you to college - Your fun mother and the work the two of you did for children.
Much to be proud and happy about.

John Townsend was a respected and admired colleague in UCC ministry for many years. When he spoke at Ohio Conference meetings, we listened!!
Under his leadership Federated Church became one of the flagship congregations in the UCC.
One memory fo share: at the Berlin Heights Church, when I served as interim pastor twenty or more years ago, John was well remembered as a leader years before who helped the church grow in exceptional ways. He was very young at that time but already was...

I want to express my deepest condolences to Rev. Townsend's family and friends. I have heard of some of the wonderful pastoral and leadership work he did from some of Plymouth's congregants, and, it's clear, his light will be deeply missed.
