TURRISI, John Richard - Of Flint, formerly of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, age 87, died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled Veteran's Association at www.DAV.org. Burial at Star of David Broward Memorial Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Visitation 5-7PM Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. John was born on March 5, 1920 in New York. He began his military career in 1948 and served his country for almost 21 years, after being decorated with many medals of Honor. John was a true military hero, proudly serving his country in three wars. After moving all over the world, he settled in Flint, where he spent his last happy days with Jan. He received his undergraduate degree from NYU and a Masters degree from Oxford. Surviving are loving daughters, Kim and Bridget of California; his beloved partner, Jan Ringlein; his Flint family, Cathy and Jim Long, Toni Ringlein and Ron Greenip, Angel, Eric, Ella and Ava Rojas, Dale, Dolores, Rosalyn, Maddie and Gracie Ringlein, Perry Ringlein; his Greek family in Florida, Missy, Dean, Julie and Christian Eliades, Mary Tsiotis and Stacey Simitsis.
