Not sure what to say?

We deeply miss you, you will always be in our hearts.

Sorry to hear that a PICKEREL brother has shoved off on Eternal Patrol. Thoughts and prayers to John's family, friends and Shipmates.

I am shocked and saddened to hear that Troll has passed away. He was a shipmate and a role model who was passionate about preserving the legacy of the boats he served on. I learned a lot from him during my time on the Tang. My heartfelt condolences to his family....there just are no words.

Fair winds and following seas my friend. Tell Joe hi for me.

I had the great pleasure of serving with "Troll" on board the USS TANG (SS 563). John was a powerful yet very gentle individual who always watched out for the welfare and safety of everyone around him. I am sorry upon his loss and give condolences to his family. To John I say, "Sailor, rest your oars. Know that Saint Peter will surely call your name."

I attended the Twins Home Opener April 11th and was so surprised and sad to see John in the Memoriam. I have so many fond memories of seeing John at Twinsfest every year and that became fond memories of visiting him while he was ushering at Target Field. He always had a bright smile and loved to talk baseball. He was so excited at the idea of ushering during the All Star game in 2015.I always looked forward to seeing John - I will miss him greatly and cherish the fond memories I have of him....

I was saddened to hear about John's passing today. I attended the Twins opener and they were honoring all the Twins employees who had passed in 2016. I was shocked to see John's photo on the large screen. I have known John for the past 15 or 20 years, as a regular attendee at my sports memorabilia shows. John really was a passionate fan for his Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. John will sorely be missed by me and his fellow sports collectors! I want to express my sincerest...

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), I offer our sincere condolences on John's passing. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. We are forever grateful for John's service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service. To our Brother of the Phin we say, Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain. Thank you for your service to our country."
Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace...

We were very saddened to hear about John's passing. He was a wonderful man and neighbor. He set the standards for beautiful lawns in our neighborhood and showed great passions for his MN sports team, Twins and Vikings. We wish your family peace and happy memories shared. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten.
