John, you were truly a unique voice in the Tucson radio landscape. I enjoyed the last chat I had with you at the KVOI studios some years back. From the glory days at KTKT News to your "Over the Backyard Fence" political talk shows, you were certainly a giant. Thanks for all the memories, may you rest in eternal peace.

John was my favorite uncle and my dad's best friend. I realize that I've known him for more than 55 years, when his children were infants. He was one of the kindest men I've ever known, one of the most talented and courageous, and a keeper of institutional knowledge that every Tucsonan has reason to be grateful for.
