JOHN ANTHONY VACLAVIK Crown Point, Indiana Age 94 passed away Friday, June 29, 2007. He was a former resident of Gary, Portage and Lakes of the Four Seasons. He retired from U.S. Steel with 35 years of service as a pipefitter and was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 1014. John served his country in World War II in England and France and was a member of American Legion Post 260 in Portage. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and the Keenagers and was also active at the cardiac rehab at St. Anthony Hospital. He is survived by one son, Allan (Jean) Vaclavik of Valparaiso; 2 daughters, Junette (Darrell) Andregg of Gloucester Point, VA, Linda (Joseph) Snyder of Crown Point; 6 siblings, Helen Toleikis of Merrillville, Clara (Paul) Wineinger of Hobart, Stephen (Lorraine) Vaclavik of Highland, Carl (Florence) Vaclavik of Garden Grove, CA, Thomas (Wilma) Vaclavik of Paducah, KY, William (Gladys) Vaclavik of Hobart; 1 sister-in-law, Irene Vaclavik; 5 grandchildren, Patryce Jenkins, Valerie Vaclavik, John Vaclavik, Nick Kristoff and Renee Snyder; 4 great grandchildren, Shelby Camron, Laryssa, Bryana and Makayla Vaclavik. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rapheal and Elizabeth Vaclavik; wife, Sue Ann Vaclavik (nee Majhor); 1 brother, Phillip Vaclavik; and 1 sister, Theresa Wozniak. Funeral services are Monday, July 2, 2007 at 10 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 356 W. Seven Mile Road, Valparaiso, with Rev. Douglas Mayer officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Visitation is Sunday, July 1, 2007 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Rosary service and a 6:30 p.m. American Legion service at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
