Dr. John Wey Van Duyn

John was a giant in his profession of entomology. He truly changed agriculture in North Carolina by finding novel methods to control insects such as billbug and corn earworm. He has been missed in his profession and now that he has gone on to his reward we will miss the outstanding person he was. John helped me as a young agronomist to become a better scientist and person. He was a person I wanted to emulate in all walks of life. God bless his family.

John was a real pal in my high school days. We fished and went camping on several occasions. Always a good sense of humor. He will be missed. Bert Wasmund Jacksonville, Florida

When Dr. John Van Duyn arrived at the Tidewater Research Center he was greeted by multiple insect problems such as bill bugs, corn borers, cutworms, bean leaf beetles and others. He went to work immediately and solved them all. He is a legend in the blacklands and all across the state of North Carolina. My condolences to his family during this time of mourning.
