John and I were classmates from 1954 to 1958 at Trivandrum Engineering College. His class-mates admired and loved him. His athletic abilities impressed us all. An outstanding professional career followed his Ph.D. degree.
Besides being a classmate, I have some personal ties. My daughter-in-laws grandmother belongs to Vithayathil family. Johns brother, Joseph sir, whom I had last visited in his ancestral home in Ernakulam, is married to Graceamma chechy whose mother is my mothers first...

It is with a heavy heart I write these few lines in memory of my closest friend John Vithayathil.

I first met John quite accidentally in 1954 in the workshop lesson of the first year engineering course in the Trivandrum Engineering College.
