Read MoreI have known and respected Dick since I started carrying his paper when I was 8 years old. He was always quick to compliment and provide encouragement as a sports spectator. My sincere condolences to the entire Von Derau family. He was an awesome man.

Dear Joan,Julie and family: I was very sorry to read about the passing of Dick in the newspaper. I got to know Dick when I was a football coach and teacher at Centerville High School (1969-1995). He was such a kind, gentle, warm gentleman with a smile for everyone. It seems like just yesterday we mourned the passing of David. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and that Dave and Dad are now enjoying eternal life together.May they rest in peace!
