Hi I am John's cousin who resides in NZ. My mother Rose is John's aunt, his mum's sister. We have only found out in the past few days through our family in Edinburgh of John's passing. My Mum has many fond memories of John (Don) and I am so pleased that I can pass on to her this obituary.

John had a quick smile, quick handshake and always a willingness to lend a hand. He taught me a lot about Scotland and Single Malt scotch; he knew what part of Scotland they were all made and as a result what they would taste like. He loved to golf and was quite good; our favorite competitive hole was #9; he hit his 3 wood as far or further than my driver. Fun loving and sincere ... that was John, whom we will miss. John and Sherry were clients of ours and it was always a pleasure to talk with them when then came to the office. Sherry - thinking and praying for you as you adjust to life without the love of your life. From experience, it isn't easy and very lonely, but I pray your memories will help you through this difficult time.

John was, as it has been said a lot, a great humorist and friend. He always lightend up a room when he walked it to it. He was always ready to give you a hand when you needed one in doing any chore you were working on.
Look up into the heavens tonight, and you will see a new star up there. That will be John. We will miss him---

Remembering your great love story today and always.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
