Not sure what to say?

John and I were roommates at Duke. He'd let me borrow his car for dates, who were invariably impressed by the "Eat More Possum" bumper sticker. His delightful, anarchic wit will always be with me. Deepest condolences to his family.

I knew John in the mid-1970s. We first met at the Cadilac Cafe. On his advice I moved to Durham, N.C. and lived there for half a year in 1973. On my return to Birmingham we were neighbors, living in the same apartment building in '73 and '74. Over the years I had hoped to get in contact with John again, but I kept moving....He was a decent human being, well-read, a good conversationalist with a sense of humor. I am so very sorry we will not be able to meet and catch up with one another's...

John Washington was my ob/gyn for over 25 years and delivered my second child. I was heartbroken when he closed his practice (and I haven´t found a doctor I´ve liked since). I´ve wondered over the years where he ended up after Doctors Without Borders, and finally decided to research it today. I am very saddened to learn of his death and offer my condolences to his family. He was very proud of his children.

I worked for Dr. Washington back in the early 90's. He was my friend, and someone I've thought of, and talked about so often. I admired him so much, and will remember him always. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dr. Washington was my doctor in Burlington. He always had a calm manner about him. Always joking and he was the best doctor I have ever been to. My condolences to his family.

It was with sadness that I read in the Burlington Times News of the death of Dr. Washington. He was my doctor for ever so many years. I had such faith in his professional judgement and enjoyed his friendship. How he did love his family! He was a great man.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the Washington family in this time of grief. May you find peace in God during this difficult time.
