Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home Obituary

     John Forrest Watson of Rankin Tx, passed away on October 23rd of 2022.  John was born in Corpus Christi Tx on August 13th, 1930, to Allen and Marie Watson.  He settled in west Texas where he lived in Big Lake Tx. He worked for Burt F Duessing Inc. for 25 years before moving to Rankin Tx, where he made his home along side his wife Lola Watson. John was the owner of John's Grocery which he owned for over 20 years in Rankin. 


    Through the years John enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, playing dominoes, and making friends where ever he went. John was a little league baseball coach, an Eagle Scout, longtime member of the Rankin School Board, president of the Rankin Hospital board and a member of the Lion's Club. His greatest trait was his ability to love. He was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those in his life. He was a Christian man and well loved in the community of Rankin. 


    He is survived by his sister Mary Watson Abalos and brother Ambrose Watson. His sons Gregory Watson, James Watson, Fred Watson, and Brandon Watson. His daughters Loretta Jordan and Cheryl Hilson. Many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 


    He is preceded in death by his parents Allen and Marie Watson. His brothers Allen Watson Jr. Clerance Watson, Kermit Watson, John Wilson and sisters Anita Demry and Gloria Gillery. His former wife Theresa Watson, his wife Lola Watson, his sons Leon Watson and John Watson Jr. His daughters Cresa Burrell , Sunshine Watson , and Janeta Evans. 


    A Visitation is scheduled for Friday October 28th from 1pm to 9pm at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home in Midland Tx. There will be a funeral service on Saturday October 29th at St Tomas Catholic Church in Rankin Tx at 11am followed by burial at Rankin Cemetery.

I send love & prayers to the family of John Watson. I didnt know John but watched Brandons show black gold hearing & feeling his love & care for John his Dad says he was & always will be an amazing man & soul many were blessed to know.
