Mr. Weber passed away Friday, December 31, 2021.

John Lawrence Weber was born to Lawrence and Magdalene Weber in Grand Forks, North Dakota on August 29th of 1939. “Papa John,” as he was known by many of his family & friends, was a treasured husband, dad, son, grandfather, uncle, and friend to all. He enjoyed playing golf, making sausage, manicuring yards, wood working and most of all, spending time with his family. John rarely complained, had an incredible work ethic, was perpetually thankful and kind, always found the good in people, had a contagious sense of humor and was a man of his word. The world would be a better place with more Papa John’s.

John spent his childhood in North Dakota working on the family farm. After graduating high school, he received a degree from Aakers Business College and served our country in the United States Army. Upon honorable discharge, he returned home and started Weber’s Meats and Grocery in Reynolds, North Dakota and shortly thereafter married the love of his life Clara Volk on November 9th, 1964. After 30 years in business, John and Clara moved to North Carolina to semi-retire and play golf, with their two sons joining them shortly.   Not long after, the boys moved to Texas, John and Clara joined them in 2005 to be with their families as they grew.   Palestine has been their home since that time. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus in North Dakota.

John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Clara Volk Weber, sons, Larry J. Weber and wife Ellen of Palestine, and Jason J. Weber and wife Mandie of Athens, sisters, Delores Craft and her (deceased husband Ray), Mary Eliason and husband Larry, one brother Bill Weber and wife Beth, three grand children, Hannah, Lawson and Jasie.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Joel Thompson, Joey Fitzgerald, Matt Weber, Alan Buckland, David Volk, Brian Volk, and Scott Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Ray Bedre and Jerry Sieg.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. In addition to the funeral service, there will be a celebration of life on January 11, 2022 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Reynolds, ND at 5:00 P.M.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 503 N. Queen St., Palestine, TX 75801.

Not sure what to say?

Clara, Larry and Jason, I was so sorry to hear of John's passing. Being a kid in Reynolds from the late 70's to early 80's holds such a special place in my heart and the Weber's are certainly a part of all that time. We came to Reynolds from a small farm outside of town. When I realized I could go to Weber's store and get soda, comic books and candy nearly anytime I wanted, a 7 year old version of me figured I hit the big time. So many wonderful memories of hanging out with Larry and...

May God bless and comfort you as you go through this difficult time.

Aunt Clara, Cousins Larry & Jason, I am so sorry to hear of the sudden loss of Uncle John. He was a wonderful man. I have many fond memories of him at your homes in North Dakota and North Carolina. I never made it to see him in Texas but I know he loved it there with his growing family. John will be missed by all. He touched many lives and made them better. Love, Lisa Hunt

Larry, sorry to hear about your dads passing. I lost mine in 2018, and feel like I can relate to what your going through. John and Clara were always good to me, weather it was at the store, or jamming at the house. Thinking of you and your family in this difficult time. Take care my friend.
