Some of my fondest memories was going to Faurot Park way back in the day to watch my Dad play softball. Mr. John Wellman was a favorite to watch play the game. Watching his thin strong frame stroll into the batters box, reach down into the dirt, make a mound of it, place his back foot there, and then promptly flick his strong wrists for another hit. Larry and I were stunned to read that John had passed..He was one of those larger than life people, We send our sympathy to Pat and to the entire extended family of friends.

Just read the obit and wish I did know John Wellmann. What a wonderful tribute. He sounds like a man that we could all learn from, and be loved by. Can't imagine the loss you feel now but the memories you have to cherish and the genes you share has to give you great peace. Sending my condolences

I have often wished I could have visited more often. You were all so wonderful! That was an exceptionally well-written obit for an exceptional man.
