John Edward Werner

John Edward Werner passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 6th after a short battle with cancer at the age of 78. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sharon, sons Jeff, Brian and David and daughter in-law Kim, (all of Tillamook) and his daughter and son-in law Katie and Jonathan Becker (of Portland). He is also survived by his six grandchildren; Trask, Julia, Hazel, Rose, Mason and Maya. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Rosella (Blaser) Werner and brother Edward Werner Jr. John was born on March 15th 1939 in Tillamook and was one of 13 children. He attended Sacred Heart grade school and Tillamook Catholic high school and served briefly in the United States Army. John worked in numerous plywood mills throughout Oregon, then spent 34 years in the dairy feed industry where he made so many life-long friendships. Following his retirement in 2002, his best days were spent tending to his small farm, taking his dog Bella for rides, visiting with his friends and family, making sausage and smoking salmon. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 11th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00am. The recitation of the Rosary will begin at 10:30am and a luncheon will follow in the Parish Hall.
