Not sure what to say?

I am broken hearted. I just found out about John's passing. I ran across a lovely email that he sent to me shortly after my retirement from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety in January of 2010. I was one of the inspectors in charge of enforcing the adult entertainment zoning ordinances. John represented a number of the locations to which I had issued orders. I feel that I can do nothing to add to all of the accolades that John received here. I feel terrible because in...

John Weston was always the most legally generous and intelligent 1st Amendment attorney I have ever had the privilege to know. He is sorely missed.

Only just realising John´s passing now. So sad to hear this. I do hope Connie is well. John was a champion of champions. I was a client and friend many years ago now, but he was never far from my thoughts.

John was my friend, once my adversary, and always a mensch.

JW (John): Great to speak with you during our last 1-2-year annual catch up; I'll forever remember the very fond memories of the past 28 years of knowing you. We met in an unfortunate situation that you quickly brought to an conclusion. The grace, father-like, coach, counselor, mentorship and friendship continued over the years. As I watched and listened to the recent Zoom celebratory birthday gathering... all human feelings we're touched and I smiled to have been in your company.

John and I became friends over 20 years ago when I represented the Los Angeles Board of a Police Commissioners. Although he vigorously represented his clients when he came before the Commission, he was always respectful and a model of civility. He was a scholar and a gentleman and I will miss him. My condolences to Connie and his extended family and friends. ~ Debra Gonzales, Assistant City Attorney, LA City Attorney’s Office

Miss you, John. Thanks for always making me feel unconditionally loved, genuinely heard, and always protected. I hope you know how much of a positive effect you had on everyone. I love you forever. Kara

John was a gentleman and a scholar, a mentor and a mensch, a boss and a friend. I learned so much in my three years at the firm. His dedication to freedom of speech was surpassed only by his love for his wife Connie. The world has lost a good man, but to those whose lives he touched, we are all better off having known him.
