"Top" John Willis on Freedom's Frontier

Colonel Ken Johnson

"Top" John Willis was one of the hardest working and most dedicated soldiers I ever worked with in my 30 years of Army service. I was honored to have him as my Company First Sergeant in Korea, 1987-88. John kept this young Captain out of trouble and taught me a lot how to succeed as an officer, commander and leader. He was selfless and a true professional. "Top", thanks for everything and all the best in your eternal "stand to."

This is a shock to me. I happened upon this obit looking for another.
John was a great person and neighbor. He was a valued resident of Parkchester and did a lot for the neighborhood. I stopped and visited with him several times on my trips back to Florida.

You didn't really have to know John very long to recognize the type of person he was. He was kind, friendly, helpful, smart and easy going . . . a good soul! He always had time to stop and chat no matter whether it was in the neighborhood or out and about. He will be sorely missed!! Our sympathy goes out to his wife and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Jan. None of us know when the good Lord calls our name saying our earthly job is done and to come home. May you find some comfort and peace in knowing your husband is with you in spirit always. When you feel a gentle touch on your cheek as he leans in to kiss it. As he sits beside you listening as you talk to him of memories. He is in your heart lovingly, forever. God is with you and your family as your steps enter the next chapter. May His blessings shine upon you.

What can one say at the loss of such a wonderful, kind, considerate man. There was nothing he couldn't do or wouldn't do, you just had to say "I need" and he would be there. He lived for his wife and family who will never forget him. Goodbye my good friend, I too will miss you and see you again in time. My heart and prayers are with you Jan and family. Beta love...Karin
