We had the pleasure and privilege of getting to know John while working and traveling together with the Census 2010. These memories will forever be cherished. He always talked about his family and how proud he was of them. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

What a guy! His quiet way sometimes veiled his dry, sharp humor, but it never stopped him from reaching out to connect with us all, individually and always perceptively. Over more than 50 years, I never heard him speak thoughtlessly or unkindly. This is an enormous loss for our family, but I cherish lots of memories....
