John Buckner Winfield M.D.

Dr Winfield was my favorite doctor of all times...he helped me get my life back! I will always remember his gentle kindness in managing my fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue and arthritis! He treated me like I was family and he wanted to best for me! Thank you Dr Winfield! I miss you!

John was a storyteller, comedian, and wonderful bartender. He loved his dogs, his wife, political debates, Reese's Cups, and reading the NYT. He and Leigh were very caring, supported me while I was finishing my education, and encouraged me to follow my dreams. My condolences. He surely is missed.

Leigh Winfield I am so very sorry about the passing of you amazing husband, John! He was my doctor for many years! He changed my life for the better because he knew so much about my fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue! I saw him for years at Chapel Hill and then to Lenore and later to Boone! I would have traveled anywhere to continue seeing him as my doctor! He greatly touched my life and I will never forget Dr John Winfield! My prayers are with you and your family! Linda

Leigh, I just learned of John's death and am so sorry for your loss. He was a stalwart of the JoCo project when we at CDC worked with you and others at UNC on that. That project is something he can be proud of supporting. Chad

I knew him slightly professionally, but my son David knew him well because David and John's late son Bucky were close friends from grade school through high school and beyond. My condolences.
