John was a quietly effective colleague in the Department of Grain Science and Industry at Kansas State University.

I served on the faculty together with John Wingfield in the Department of Grain Science and Industry at Kansas State University. I recall John to be respectful of others, and ready to help. He was a good listener, and a problem-solver with a positive attitude. I always relished my interactions with him. May he rest in peace.
