Read MoreWe got to know John during some of many trips to the Outerbanks of NC. We enjoyed watching him windsurf and enjoyed a couple of dinners with him at his home and our 'rented' home in Brigands Bay.
We are heading there again for the last 2 weeks of September and his absence will be missed, but his presence will be felt.

I never knew Mr. Winnick personally, but have played trombone in a big band with his son. If it's true that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, then from knowing his son, John must have been a very special person. Therefore, I offer my deepest sympathy and condolences to his family in this time of great sorrow.
I also offer these words of comfort and encouragement from God's word.

My fondest memories of J. Bob were connected to Frisco NC. Loading up his little homemade trailer with beach chairs and boogie boards and four wheeling on the beach, watching that old truck plow throw the sand and then relaxing on the dock at the house…Rae reading a book, John show me his record collection and maps. A genuine, real dude. You will be missed but will always remain in our hearts.
