Not sure what to say?

My deepest condolences to Carolyn and the Wiseman family. I just learned of Professor Wiseman´s passing in the UofM Chem Newsletter, a beautiful description of his life. As a married PhD student with three children during my time with Professor Wiseman, from 1969 to 1973, he both taught me and reinforced many life attitudes and ways of "managing" others. He was very intense in his love and dedication for organic chemistry and yet very compassionate regarding life issues in families. I...

I understand this is belated- my deepest condolences to Dr. Wiseman’s family. He was an inspiring and influential man and taught organic chemistry with nuance and quiet enthusiasm. I enjoyed his classes as a chem major greatly and he certainly played a role in moving me forward towards attaining MD. Peace and best regards.

I just learned of his death today in the Um chem newsletter. I regret not knowing earlier as I would have come in to pay my respects. I graduated from the Wiseman lab in 84. He was a fine teacher and scholar and I owe him much. My condolences to Carolyn and family.

John and I served together on the board of ECIR (Ecumenical Center for International Residence) and he became a kind of mentor to me. I followed him as board president at ECIR, and I learned alot about leadership styles from observing the way that he included the other board members in discussions. John always had a very good command of the facts. Roger Pohl was the Director at the time, and he was a joy to work with for John and me. John lived a busy life and made so many contributions to...

John was a kind and generous friend. I enjoyed serving with him on the Wesley board and singing together in the bass section at FUMC. Thinking of Carolyn and his family.

Gillian and I played bridge with John and Carolyn for many years at a couple of different venues and they both were unfailingly pleasant. Of course, they invariably took all their tricks and one or two of mine, but they were always very nice about it.

I never met John but we had some overlapping paths at different times. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Business in 1971 and have lived in Colorado for over 23 years. I lived close to Boulder and just moved close to Rocky Mountain National Park. John is related through my grandmother (Mary (Wiseman) Lloyd) on my father's side. John would have been a wonderful person to have known!

Thank you for the wonderful times which I will always remember, for your understanding, patience and guidance. With all my love and sincerest gratitude,
