Just like Matthew, I remember thinking John was as strong as superman when I was a kid. In fact, his love for exercise and fitness was a huge influence on me that has led me to my current career as a professor in kinesiology. But it wasn't just the biceps that made a an impression on me - it was the love, time and attention John gave me so generously. He was a hero, a mentor, a best friend and a wonderful brother to me. I love him and will miss him very much.

Uncle John had a gift when it came to playing with kids. Whether he was dodging blows from Paul's makeshift numchucks or running around with us kids at a family reunion, John helped us all have a great time. With love and appreciation, Cloe

My uncle John was very sporty when he was younger. I remember a visit in Baltimore when I was about 5 or 6 and he was just over 20. I thought I was so strong because I could flip him over my shoulder onto his back. Of course he was just taking a dive (many) for his naive young nephew, but boy did I think I was powerful!
