Thoughts and prayers for you all. I have such fond memories of high school with John. He was so kind. He was a great friend and we shared many laughs and good times. I am not surprised to hear of his service to our country, he was always one to give.

I was one of John's ROTC instructors at the University of Alabama years ago and was so saddened to hear of his passing. It was easy to tell back then that he would become a stellar Air Force officer and from reading his obit and comments in this guest book it is evident that he did serve with distinction and was a wonderful man throughout his life. I never knew John's family but please accept my deepest sympathies and know that your dad was admired by all who knew him and was truly a star in...

Amy, Matt and Karen. I am so sorry for your loss. John was a great man and father. I have fond memories of all of us and our small children at holidays. Chaos, but fun. He will be missed and know that we are here for you!

What a terrible loss. John was taken way too soon from us. I was John's commander at Robins AFB. He was a reliable, dedicated officer who looked out for others first above himself. I will never forget faxing him his PRF to LtCol to Scott when he was in transition and then congratulating him after the announcement of his promotion. What a gentleman and a first-class warrior.
Proud and honored to call him a fellow airman. Well done John.

John and I were both retired Lt Cols and both KC-135 Navs. We attended a few hockey games together and has plans to ride together this spring. He was gentle, he was kind, soft spoken and a genuine nice guy. I am going to miss him.
