MOUNTAIN TOP — John Robert Zielinski, 46, born and raised in Mountain Top, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017, unexpectedly at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

John was a Crestwood High School Class of 1989 graduate, followed by his entry into the U.S. Army from which he was honorably discharged in 1994. John was a retiree from the State Department of Corrections, where he was a corrections officer. John also was on both the CERT and HRT Teams for the State DOC, in which he played a crucial role on both teams and was very much dedicated to his career.

John was known by many for his huge heart and willingness to help anyone, in which he had many recognitions from State Departments for his "bravery and dedication to go above and beyond duties and responsibilities to ensure the well being of others."

Aside from all his career achievements and dedications, John loved to play poker, hunt, fish and be outdoors as well as hunting for "Boo Boo Bear!" Lets not forget he was a diehard Patriots fan!

John was very much loved by his family in which he leaves behind his mother and father, Deborah and Thomas Zielinski Sr.; his sister, Tracey Bozek; nieces, Serenity and Harmony Leco; son, Ryan Zielinski; fiancee, Lisa Antalosky; and brother-in-law, Gary Leco Jr.

He is proceeded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Lois Sterling; grandmother, Josephine Zielinski; and his brother, Thomas Zielinski Jr.

Viewing will be held 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017, at McCune's Funeral Home, located at 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Albert Cemetery, Mountain Top.
