John Zimmer Obituary
John E. Zimmer, age 81, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend was born on April 1, 1928 in Rockford, Illinois to Paul and Lucille Zimmer. He went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2009. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes, Texas. John was preceded in death by a grandson, Jesse Charles Lopez Jr. and is survived by his wife Lucille R. Zimmer; daughter, Edith Zimmer Garza and husband David M. Garza; stepchildren, Ralph Lopez and wife Christine, Jesse Charles Lopez and wife Anna, Mary Theresa Martinez; grandchildren, Debra Bentley and husband Ron, John Lopez and wife Lisa, Cynthia Lopez, Christopher Lopez, Denise Martinez, Richard Daniel Martinez, Jon-Michael Blake, Valerie blake; great-grandchildren, James, Sydney, Jonathan and Geoffrey; sister, Myra Giuffre and husband Mike; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 13715 Riggs street in Helotes on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 beginning at 6:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. The funeral procession will depart Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, on Bandera Rd. Thursday May 28, 2009 at 9:30 A.M. for a 10:00 A.M. mass to be celebrated at the Holy Cross Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Conor McGrath officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery with Military Honors. Please visit www.mem.com for an online memorial and tributes.
