Not sure what to say?

We will miss you, Jo! You remembered each of our five names when my mother pushed her stroller into "That Shop" so many years ago. Later, you drove your cherry red Miata into our driveway and explained that the secret to life was having fun. There were long letters about life in China and Zhou who could make a long noodle for birthdays. We loved having you at our big family table for Russian Christmas and Easter. We will miss giving you kulich Easter bread which you sliced thin for...

Today I was shocked by the sad news that Jo passed away. I was one of her students when she taught English at Beijing Medical University. That was early 1980s. I left a small town for college in the capital city. I was determined to speak good English not really knowing the purpose. One day after Jo's class when I was reading a novel written by Sidney Sheldon, A Stranger in the Mirror, Jo came to me and said "if you want to read some other books, come to my dorm". Since then I spent 1-2 hours...

I was on the Bayview Foundation Board with Jo. I did not know she managed "That Shop"for so many years. I loved that place for postal services and those little things which were needed. Misc items. I was a frequent visitor, so maybe we met during that time too. Jo was a lively participant in our Board meetings. My condolences to Jo's family and husband.

My condolences to Jo's family. My mother is a Bayview resident and I met Jo in the elevator and encountered her often on my frequent visits to see my mom. I was always warmly welcomed with that beautiful smile. She was very kind to my mother which I so appreciated.

I never had an opportunity for extended conversation and am so glad to learn details of her rich and interesting life.

Jo will surely be missed by her many friends at Bayview and beyond.
