Johnathan Roach Obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Johnathan "Scott" Roach who left us too early on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Arlington, TN at the age of 43. Born April 18, 1982, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Scott has been a Memphis resident since 2008.
Scott is preceded in death by his Father William (Bill) Bernard Roach, Jr; Grandparents William B. Roach (Aileen) and Sgt., James W. Gray (Gisela "Peggy").
Scott is survived by his wife, Tracey L. Morgan, and children Charles R. and Lily A. Skinner of Arlington; his beloved mother JuliaAnn Gray Beckman (Barry); sister Shanna L. Hastings (Shane); sister-in-law Carla L. Turner (Gene); brother-in-law David L. Burks (Lisa). Nephews Easton C. Worm, Zane B Hastings, Cayden B. Hastings, Cameron B. Hastings, Jacob A. Turner (Jessica), Joseph A. Turner (Hannah), Jadon A. Turner, David A. Burks, Christopher J. Burks, and Jessie R. Burks. Nieces Ashley R. Boatwright, Tessie L. Forbush-Rivera, and Melanie L. Brown (Jarred). Uncles Jim Gray (Elisha) and Ronny Gray (Jackie). Aunts Joyce Gray Conard (Tony), Patricia Jones (Jimmy), and many others in his extended family.
Scott was an avid outdoorsman whose entire life was spent in loving service to his family, work community, friends, and country. His life of service and accomplishments included Eagle Scout, Scout Troop 534, he was a member of The Arkansas Canoe Club where he paddled both kayak and open boat. He joined The Air Natl Guard with the 154th Weather Flight on Aug. 21, 2001. He deployed to Iraq in 2004 supporting the 1st Cavalry Division at Camp Liberty, Iraq, and transitioned to Camp Taji in Feb. 2005. This was in support of Iraqi Freedom. Scott earned his Campaign Medal with Star Device on this deployment. Scott deployed as part of Operation Enduring Freedom to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in Oct. 2006. Scott again supported Operation Iraqi Freedom by providing backfill support at Fort Stewart in Georgia with the 15th ASOS from June 2007 to March 2008. Significant awards include the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal with one campaign star, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. In 2008, he joined the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller, transitioning out of military service in Aug. of 2013 after marrying the love of his life in 2012.
Scott's presence brought warmth and laughter to every gathering. He was known for his love of food, his kind heart, his vast skill set, his patience, and his amazing sense of humor. His memory will be treasured and his legacy will live on through his friends and family.
Celebration of Life service will take place at Orion Hill on October 24th from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. in Arlington. Arkansas Military Burial Arrangements will be announced after arrangements are made.
