Johnnie Schram Obituary

Johnnie Britt Schram passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018, at her Metairie home at the age of 76. She is survived by her partner of over 25 years, Barry Eugene Sevin, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lewis Cain and Annie Britt Standifer Cain. Johnnie was born on October 24, 1941, in Lafayette, LA and spent many years in Mississippi. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and also a majorette at the University of Mississippi, where her father, Johnny Cain, coached Archie Manning during his college years. Johnnie loved to travel abroad and lived for several years in England before returning to Louisiana, spending the rest of her life in and around the Greater New Orleans metro area and Metairie. In fact, she said that the reason she decided to live in New Orleans is because the French Quarter reminded her of the places in Europe she experienced while traveling. Johnnie also loved dogs, and she was devoted to her two Dobermans, Sochi and Mischa. One of her greatest pleasures was music, and she had a particular fondness for the Blues. She played the bass drum during her college years and was a regular on the music scene in the French Quarter and at local festivals. Well-known in the local area, she was the owner of Crazy Johnnie's Steak House in Metairie, which she opened in 1987. She was passionate about her restaurant and the people who dined there. After the restaurant closed in 2014, she loved to hear stories from patrons about their memories and experiences at Crazy Johnnie's. A service is planned for her on Saturday, May 19, from 1-2 p.m. at St. Martin's Episcopal Church at 2216 Metairie Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Animal Rescue of New Orleans (ARNO). Neptune Society of New Orleans was entrusted with the arrangements.

I will never forget the great times we had on the porch, when Allen played music. They were the best, and also going with Barry and Johnnie out about town listening to different bands. We really had some good ol' times.
Johnnie will surely be missed.
Our condolences to Barry.
