I am a Vietnam vet. His song Hello Vietnam means a great deal to me because I lost a girl I still love which I have not seen or heard from since 1968 because she was against the Vietnam war. I listen to that song and think of her. Thank you Johnny, rest in peace.

I just learned of the loss of this beloved country music icon today. Kitty died a week ago, and I fondly recall in 2004 seeing them tour with Bill Anderson among other greats. What struck me the most was how after being helped to the stage, along with a walker, when Johnny took his guitar and stood to the mic with his magnificent rhinestone suit and hat, he came to life and put a show on that I will never forget. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Johnnie. He was an icon. I too lost my husband in March 2011
country singer, songwriter Harley Allen. He had many hit songs and wrote them on a guitar that was once owned by Kitty and Johnny. it was a great 1952 D28. Johnny sold it to Curtis McPeak. Someone from Dayton Ohio bought the guitar from Curtis and Harley always loved it (He is Red Allen's Son).
