Vaughn Funeral Home - Spring City Obituary

Johnny Kimsey age 62 of Spring City, Tennessee died on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at his residence.


He was born on January 18, 1963.  Johnny attended school in Rhea County. He then joined the United States Army and served for 16 years earning the rank of E-6, Staff Sergeant. After retiring from the service, Johnny worked at Advance Auto Parts in Dayton, Tennessee and retired in 2017. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing Skip-Bo. Johnny was of the Protestant faith. 


Johnny is preceded in death by his father Julian Dale Kimsey.


Survivors include his mother Mary Emma McCollister of Spring City, Tennessee; his children Christopher (Rachel) Kimsey of Lebanon, Tennessee and Joni (Samuel) Raper of Madisonville, Tennessee; his brother Jerry Kimsey of Spring City, Tennessee; his sisters Debbie Cantrell, Melinda (Stephen) Vaught, and Tammy Baldwin all of Spring City, Tennessee; his nine grandchildren Joshua (Kelsey) Crowder, Mikayla (Austin) Fowler, Anika Crowder, Alexis Crowder, Maliyah Crowder, Serenity Kimsey, Madison Kimsey, Hailey Hoefling, and Rebecca Hoefling; his four great grandchildren Wesley, Ellie, Gary, and Lyla; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Scott officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Spring City Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
