Johnny Murchison Obituary
Johnny Micheal "Mike" Murchison, age 71 of Southaven, MS, passed away March 20, 2012.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, March 25th and funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 26th, all at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Southwoods Cemetery in Memphis.
Born on November 14, 1940 in Jackson, TN, Mike was a graduate of Southside High School in Jackson, and he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Communications Specialist. He worked for GM&O Railroad, which later became ICG Railroad, where he retired in 1989 as a Conductor. After retirement, Mike entered a new career as the Operations Director for VIP Express Couriers, and later, he operated his own courier business, "Deliveries Unlimited" with his wife, Carol. Most recently, he was working as the Security Supervisor with Caesar's Entertainment at Roadhouse Casino in Tunica, MS.
An avid sports enthusiast, Mike was passionate about baseball and NASCAR, and he was a star baseball player in his youth. His hobbies he enjoyed will include CB Radio Communications, building and repairing electronics of all types, and his 1955 Chevy Hardtop.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Carol W. Murchison; and his parents, Charles E. and Willie Bell Murchison.
He is survived by his son, Micheal A. Murchison; his daughter, Johnna McIllwain; 4 grandson, Timothy Murchison, Jonathan Murchison, Joseph Murchison and Brandon McIllwain; 3 step-granddaughters, Amanda, Wendi and Ashley; his sister, Diane Hollis; 2 brothers, Charles Franklin Murchison and James Patrick Murchison; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Johnna and Michael: Much love from and old friend of your Mom and Dad. When we all lived in Jackson years ago (when you two were kids) we had loads of fun. So sorry to hear about Mike and Carol. They will remain in my heart as great friends. They were the best.
