On Sunday December 10, 2023 God saw fit to call Johnny Lee Pitt to his heavenly home. Johnny was born on October 5th 1947.


 


Johnny (Rabbit) attended school in Pitt and graduated from C.M. Eppes High School. After being employed at DuPont for 35 years he decided to retire in 2005. He later became the owner and operator of Pitt Cleaning Service located here in Greenville, NC for over 50 years. He enjoyed traveling and visiting his children and grandchildren.  He loved his “Cadillacs”. He was also an avid seafood lover.


 


Johnny was a member of Arthur’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Bell Arthur, NC. He was a faithful, dedicated, hard working member.  There he served many duties; such as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, a motivated facilitator of the upkeep of the church.  He also served on the Senior Usher Board under the leadership under his sister, President, Mother Jessie Moore.


 


Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and  Aritmissa Taft Pitt, sisters Rosa Pitt, Laura Tyson, brother Charlie Pitt Jr.


 


Johnny leaves to cherish his memories daughter, Bethany Smith (Derek), Charlotte, NC, three sons, Timothy L. Pitt (Angela), Greensboro, NC; Gary W. Pitt (Shonda), High Point, NC; Brian C. Pitt (Kim), Winterville, NC. 9 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren; two sisters Jessie Moore (Aunt Bee) of Greenville, NC and Lucille Bennett of Winterville, NC. Two brothers Jasper Pitt (Charlotte) of Greenville, NC and Bobby Gorham (Charlotte) of Greenville, NC. A very devoted and faithful friend of many years Shirley Pitt.
