Even though we never met I feel like we have... I took the very best care of your wife up until the very end. I sure do miss her... And every time I worked in the yard I felt your presence. I find peace in knowing you and your sweetheart are together again.
Love Always,
Kristy

Mrs. Hildebrand (Jeanine)

My wife, Evelyn, and I are saddened to learn today of the loss of John. We've known him years from our joint membership at Crestview United Methodist Church as well as knowing him professional as Dr. Hildebrand (John) at Pillow School. Our children counted him as a leader, a teacher and an adult friend. He is a loss to your family and the community. When you need to talk with John, look into your heart; there you will find him.

I had the priviledge of volunteering with John at Seton Northwest Hospital. He was a true gentleman who always placed others above himself. We have lost a good and faithful servant and my condolences go out to his family.

Dr. Hildebrand was the principal at Pillow Elementary when both of my daughters attended in the mid-70's. He was so warm and caring and made a real difference in my daughters' experience. God Bless your family.

Dr. Hildebrand was the principal of two different elementary schools that I attended as a child. I remember him as a kind, loving, and nurturing leader who made me feel "at home" even as a new student. I am now a long time teacher myself, and consider Dr. Hildebrand part of my inspiration to enter the field of education. I feel fortunate to have known him. I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Jeanine and family,

We were saddened today to hear about John. He was a good friend and colleague. We had many good times with you, Jeanine and John. Hope your health is good. We moved last year to be near Dwayne.

He was one of the true saints at our church and now he is enjoying his reward for being such a faithful servant. If I could be even a tenth of who John was, I would be a lucky man. Regrettably now, I never spent any long amounts of time with John, one on one, short of the platitudes paid at church and different church functions. Undoubtedly, it was a missed opportunity from a fine, wonderful, kind and gentle man. His enthusiasm for his Savior was infectious. I remember John would occasionally sing a solo during Sunday morning worship at Covenant, usually a hymn from the Methodist Hymnal. He didn’t have the greatest of voices, but he sang with gusto because he believed the words he sang! He battled his disease courageously. May my own battle be fought with his same conviction. He was an inspiration in how he lived, he was an inspiration in how he died and he shall remain an inspiration to all whose lives he touched. He fought the good fight! I shall miss him, but I know I will spend eternity with him and Jesus. Thank you God, for even the short moments I shared with John.

It has been 50 years since I had the privilege of having Dr. Hildebrand as my 5th grade teacher at Brykerwoods Elementary. Although the years separated us physically, I have carried his memory and wonderful spirit with me since that long ago time. I am sure he was loved and will be missed by many. I feel very fortunate that he was part of my life. He made a difference to an impressionable young boy. God Bless his soul.
