So shocked to come across this when looking to reconnect with Joia. Hadn't realised it had been so long. I loved her no-nonsense, but humorous, approach. She never missed a deadline and her copy was always just right. What a terrific loss to her family and friends, and how sad for Joia, who was so very lively, to have her life cut short.

We shared a flat together as students in St Andrews. A most positive person with only good things to say. Never tolerated me sneaking bacon into lentil soup. Thought too, to look her up, and discovered this sad news. My thoughts are with Jim and family.

I knew Joia through drama workshops as a teenager. I have always remembered her warmth and humour - and how understanding and supportive she was at a difficult time in my life. Just thought to look her up now... too late.

I literally googled Joia to get back in touch after 11 years and found this.
