I knew both Jon and Ted Erikson from the late 1960s. Jon and I were the same age and swam together at Ridge Park in Chicago. I will never forget the day he told me he wanted to do something that no one had ever done before. We were both eleven years old. He said he wanted to swim the English Channel. The following year my family moved to Arizona and Jon became the youngest person ever to swim the English Channel. I lost contact with Jon for almost 45 years but reconnected with his dad...
