BUCKLEY — Jon Edward Fasel, of Buckley, passed away Aug. 27, at the age of 47.

Jon was born June 9, 1962, to Al and Ginny Fasel.

Jon was married to the love of his life and longtime best friend, Rita (Thaxton) Fasel, for 19 years. Jon and Rita have a cherished daughter, Sienna Fasel.

He is survived by his parents; wife and daughter; one sister; and four brothers. His siblings include sister, Ann Couturier and her husband, Denny and their sons, Ryan, Brandon (wife, Marta and their son, Braxton), and Kellen; brother, Steve Fasel and his wife, Mary and their children, Megan and Jordan; brother, Michael Fasel and wife, Laura and their sons, Adam, (Godson) Tobin, Dillon, Cameron and Shane; brother, Paul Fasel and friend, Melissa; brother, Scott Fasel and wife, Cari and their sons, (Godson) Jacob and Nathan.

Jon graduated in 1980 from St. Francis High School and dedicated 22 years to Tower Automotive.

Jon enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and all activities outdoors. He experienced these activities with thrills dialed all the way up. He gave of his heart in the same manner with quiet modesty, fierce loyalty to family and those in need. Like the nurturing Jon gave to his vegetable garden, he gave the same to the children in his life — he was a remarkable uncle. Most important to Jon was his complete devotion as a husband and father.

As Jon had wished, in intimate gathering will take place at their home (It's not a pig roast).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Edward Jones, c/o Sienna Fasel's college fund at 515½ S. Union St., Traverse City, MI 49684.

The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

This obituary was originally published in the Record-Eagle.

Not sure what to say?

Dear Rita, Sienna, & Fasel Family,

I am so sorry to hear about Jon and the recent loss of his mom. I know there are a lot of memories of Jon's quick wit and laugh that puts a smile on all of our faces. I still get a smile on my face thinking of the all the great times waterskiing with Jon on Long Lake. I think we may be the only guys crazy enough to jump start slalom skiing off the top of the diving board platform at the old Dairy Bar. Jon was always ready to have fun and live...

Dear Rita & Sienna,
We are thinking of you and praying God's love surrounds you at this time of sadness.
He was a wonderful person, full of kindness and love, especially for the two of you. You were blessed by the years you got to have him.
You are in our prayers,
Rick & Joanne Smith
