Read MoreI was discussing deep-sea fishes with my students the other day and mentioned Dr. Staiger. I found his obituary when I looked him up. He was a great person who provided me with valuable advice and guidance and helped me to reach my goals when I was a marine science student. I will always be grateful to him. RIP Dr. Staiger.

Jon was indeed a renaissance man with a quick wit, sparkle in his eye, and abiding love for nature and art. We worked with Jon during his public service and then consulting endeavors and always found him to be passionate, pragmatic and consensus builder. He built a wonderful legacy. Rest in peace.
