Jonathan was born on September 17, 1979 and passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019. Jonny graduated from Texas Christian University and later attended Southern Methodist University. Jonny was a spiritual believer, attending church regularly, and cherished his participation in the Masonic Lodge of Colbert, Oklahoma and the Scottish Rite of Macalester, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Jonny to the charity of your choice.

Myself and Jonathan on the Appalachian Trail in 2012

I met Jonathan in Georgia on the Appalachian Trail in 2012. We hiked my final 300 miles together. He was generous, funny, intelligent, and well-liked by fellow hikers. When I heard about his death, I was shocked and devestated. His presence in my life, both on the Appalachian Trail and for several years afterwards, was transformational.
