Jonathan Scott Harman Jonathan Scott Harman, 56, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Scott was born in Waynesboro, Virginia, on September 30, 1956, the son of Lyle E. Harman and Beverley M. Via. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Grover and Mary McDonald; his paternal grandparents, Arthur and Virginia Harman; his father, Lyle E. Harman; his stepfather, H. Calvin Via; a sister, Rebecca Anne Harman; and a brother, Clay Andrew Harman.
He ise survived by his fianc‚e, Robin Bingler of Earlysville; his mother, Beverley M. Via of Waynesboro; his stepmother, Betty S. Harman of Stuarts Draft; his sons and daughters-in-law, Scotty and Wendy Harman of Stuarts Draft, Justin and Ashley Harman of Waynesboro, Jonathan Harman and Emily Roberts of Waynesboro, Cody Harman and Amanda Barnes of Crimora; a sister, and brother-in-law, Kim and Dale Mace of Grottoes; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Vicki Harman of Afton, and Chris Harman and Joi Brown of Waynesboro; stepbrother, David Via of Barren Ridge; stepsister, Susan V. Williams of Hampton; stepsons, Michael Mullins and Eric Bingler; stepdaughter, Kara Bingler, grandchildren, Victoria, Andrew, Nathan, Emma, Kahli, Koley and Kelsey Harman; four nephews, two nieces and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Scott served his country honorably in the United States Army during the 1970's. Scott was an accomplished drummer, having played in numerous area bands with a variety of musicians. He was also a very talented builder in several areas of construction specialty. A private family service will be held 6 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012, at the Church on the Hill. The family will greet friends and share a casual memorial celebration of Scott's life at Captain Sam's Landing in Waynesboro, at 6 p.m. on Monday, November 19 2012.
Pallbearers will be Eggy Aizcorbe, Tony Cooper, Stu Dawson, Ricky Doyle, Jeff Hall, Tom Hanger, D.J. Humphreys, John Kerby, Rusty Kivett, Mitch McClenahan, Tommy Tidd and Chris Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be other former band mates and friends too numerous to list. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the charity of your choice.
