Jonathan was the son of the late Alonzo House and Hattie Telfair House. He was born March 20, 1925 in Greenville, North Carolina. Jonathan married Claudette McDonald in September 1949. From this union, three children wre born. Even though the marriage later ended in divorce they still remained friends. Jonathan graduated from the public school system of greenville, N.C. Upon completion of high school, he entered the United States Navy to serve his country during World War II. After receiving an honorable discharge in July 1946, he entered A&T University in Greenboro, N.C. and pursed a teaching degree. He graduated in 1950. He started teaching high school math in 1956 at Tabor City High School in Tabor City, N.C. where he also coached high school basketball until his retirement in July 1987. Mr House was a longtime faithful member of Sandy Grove Baptist Church in Fair Bluff, N.C. There, he was a Deacon for many years. He was a member of the Deacon Brotherhood Association. Through the years, he recevied many awards during his employment, and he also received recognition for his devotion, dedication, volunteer work and community service. He leaves to cherish his memory: four children, Raymond (Blossie), Tovondia (Anthony), Jonathan (Terry) and Teresa; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; aunt, Leatha Jenkinsl and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
