Age 25, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Joseph Abud officiating. Cremation has taken place. Military Honors will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation 1-5 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Michigan Veterans Trust, 1101 Beach Street, Flint, MI 48502. Jonathan was born in Flint, Michigan on June 12, 1987. He served in the U.S. Marines in Afghanistan. He was an avid soccer player; he played on multiple traveling teams. Surviving are father, Jason (Christy) Joseph; mother, Lori (Andy) Peterson; brothers, Michael Joseph, Bradley and David Peterson; grandmother, Nova Valenti; grandparents, Kenneth and Pat Peterson; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Ernest and Roula Joseph and grandfather, Donald Valenti. Your condolences may be shared with the family at

Lori I remember you and your sister from our neighborhood and wanted you to know I am so sorry for your loss. I too have experienced the loss of a son so I know your pain.
