CLOSED-Harvey Family Funeral Home Obituary

Jonathan Ko

Age 38, was born on April 25, 1978 in Hong Kong and passed away on August 2, 2016 at his home in Seattle, after a courageous 5-year battle with cancer.

Jonathan received a PhD in Computer Science and Robotics from the University of Washington in 2011, and then applied his skills at Google as a software engineer. He believed in science and the power of the human intellect and curiosity, and enjoyed discussions about science and philosophy.

He lived life to the fullest, riding his motorcycle on tracks around the world, playing soccer as captain of the team, and completing science-inspired art projects. Most of all, he made a deep impression on all who had the honor of knowing him, with his intellect, openness, energy, and kindness. He will be forever loved and missed.

Jonathan is survived by his loving mother, Jackie; sister, Clara (Michiel) and brother, Paul (Christine); niece, Abigail; and nephew, Alexander. He was preceded in death in 1979 by his father, Donald.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 13th at 1 pm at
Blessed Sacrament Church
5041 9th Avenue N. E., Seattle 98105

Not sure what to say?

It will be three years this August 2, I was not able to attend his memorial service in 2016 but I still remember Jonathan as a remarkable person, his calm and dedicated work attitude during his last five years.
He will be remembered.

We are very sorry for your loss. We will miss his sense of adventure and cheerfulness in spite of his illness. Our prayers will be with Jonathan, you and your family.

I am so sorry for you loss and we are praying for Jonathan, you, and your family.
