I always looked very much forward to Jon's appointments with me over the past decades. Our discussions were always deep and interesting. Jon had my absolute respect and admiration. He is missed; however, his spirit lives on.

You do not know me and I do not know you, but I will never forget Jon. He was one of my teachers when I was at the Chewonki Foundations', Maine Reach. Even though it has been many years since I had spoken to Jon, I have never forgotten him. He was funny and friendly and pushed all of us to be our best. That year changed me in so many ways and Jon was an important part of that. Thank you Jon.

I learned so much from Jonathan. I learned about the beauty of Torah from his scholarship and probing questions. I learned about courage in our shared cancer journey. I learned about gentleness from this truly gentle man. I learned about peace in Israel from a perspective different from my own. I learned about gratitude for life and the strength of hope. I will miss Jonathan and always remember his words and his presence. Zichrono livracha.

Dear Sam, Leslie, Marc, Cathleen and the Reitman Clan,
My thoughts are with all of you during this time. In reading about Jon's work as a Mediator, I recall his heartfelt commitment to the Common Good and his dedication to core principles. In reading the previous Remembrance in this Book regarding Jon's pursuit of Justice, I recall the times when I spoke with Jon about his work and life, and then think of the sense of joy he must have experienced during his process of searching for...

Jonathan, z"l, was passionatelydevoted to human rights. In his work with Palestinians and Israelis and with Interfaith Maine, among many causes, he gave meaning to the notion of tikkun olam. With the prophets of ancient Israel he shared the commandment: "justice, justice, shall you pursue." He will be greatly missed by all those who believe in a just and humane world.
