Not sure what to say?

Dear Family Short,

I was greatly saddened and shocked by the loss of your Jonathan.

I am an old friend who remembers what a sweetness and love of life Jonathan had. He had such an expression of beauty, humor, excitement, fear, joy, and love of creative endeavors.

In the words of John Lennon, "We All Shine Out", and Jonathan had that special shine.
What can we say.....?? There are really no words. My heart goes out to all of you. Take care of those darling boys and...

Our family lived next door to the Shorts in Overland Park, Kansas and we first met Jonny when he was a bright-eyed 4-year old with a huge smile and a personality to match! In those days we all called our parents’ friends "Mr. and Mrs., but not Jonny, who would frequently burst through our back door yelling, "Ada Mae! Ada Mae!" - Much to the delight of our Mother. Although he was the youngest, he was usually successful in keeping up with our 'gang' and could often be found wildly flinging...

Jonathan was one of the first people I met after moving to Atlanta in 1997. He continued to be one of the nicest and most engaging people I've ever known. I'm thankful to have been fortunate enough to be his friend. I will not forget him. My thoughts are with his family.

I am so sorry for the loss of your husband and father Jonathan. I just found out yesterday and I hope and pray each day will be alittle easier for you and the boys. Parker was in my class at The Preschool and I had heard such wonderful things about your husband and father. May peace be with you and your family.

I grew up on Somerset Trail in Atlanta with Jonathan. I recall building an igloo one winter in their front yard when we had one of those rare big snow storms...but we could never get it tall enough for him!

The Mairose family sends their condolences to the family.

I worked with Johnathan over many years and on many projects, including Remembr the Titans, Gods and Generals and his last project, Step Show. He was a joy to work with and a pleasure to speak to. His deep caring came out in even the most superficial conversations. He always radiated a rare warmth. I will miss him very much.

At Jonathan and Natalie's rehearsal dinner, my toast was that my greatest wish was that Natalie would marry a man who loves her as much as I do. Jonathan fullfilled my wish. His legacy includes two beautiful boys who (like Jonathan) are very energetic. As exemplified by Kay holding Natalie's hand during the memorial service, I look forward to a close relationship with the Short family.
I'll miss you Big Guy - Pops

I am an old friend of Sandy. We taught together at Cross Keys and lived in the same apartment complex. I have often admired the closeness of your family and have met Jon. I am so sorry for your loss. The wonderful memories all of you have will be so precious to you over the years. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I will always remember the happy times I spent with Jonathan and Natalie. Being lost in New York City and laughing our way back home stands out in my head the most. Or sitting on his front porch deconstructing love and art. Johnathan and Natalie are good parents, who love their boys. Parker is so much like his daddy. We must continue to honor Johnathon by honoring those who have survived him. Natalie is going to need help raising his sons. I hope that we will all find the time and love in our...
